Richard Warren Field - Writer/Musician
When I first completed
The Election in 1997, the
internet was in the midst of its initial explosion as a method of sharing
information and ideas of all types. We set up infortainment.com for
Infortainment Publishing Company and offered a number of features related to
The Election for the
information and entertainment of site visitors. After the publication cycle for
The Election ended,
RichardWarrenField.com allowed me to continue to share the ideas I offered in
The Election as well as
offering information on my new writing projects:
The Swords of Faith,
a Novel of the Crusades, the first third of
The Swords of
Faith trilogy (which also includes
The Sultan and the
The Ghosts of Baghdad) and
Dying to Heal, a novel co-written with
chiropractor Doctor Alan Fluger.
As anyone who has read The Election or has spent any time at this site knows, I like to offer ideas that are not largely agreed to by a consensus of modern society’s “common knowledge.” Sometimes the ideas are completely original. Other times, they are the ideas of others expressed in new combinations or contexts. History has proven consistently that it is the thinkers challenging the ingrained assumptions of a society who will offer the ideas that will shape that society's future. This is my humble attempt at just that. Time will be the judge of what I have offered. What I love about the internet is that I can continue to share what I have to offer, and interested people can find me with a search engine and a mouse. Sharing ideas no longer needs to be governed by physical space, or real time, or by the limited choices offered by a ratings/profit-driven mass media with the attention span of a flea. Networks of like-minded individuals can find each other anywhere, any time, without waiting for Fox News or CNN to spread the word.
The Election is no longer new. But I am still proud of many of the ideas, as I discuss in The Election - Twelve Years Later. I was gratified when readers contacted me to tell me how the visions and ideas expressed in The Election had touched them. As I move on to other projects, I believe The Election will age well, and this website allows me the opportunity to keep The Election and its ideas available, as well as offering me the opportunity to go off in new directions, and to rediscover old viewpoints in the context of our evolving human condition.
